Miyamoto, Inafune keynotes at CEDEC conference

Next month's CESA Development Conference (CEDEC) in Tokyo will feature keynote presentations from Shigeru Miyamoto and Capcom producer (and Mega Man creator) Keiji Inafune. Miyamoto's talk, "From where should we create?" (or something like that), will look at the development process of Wii Music, the philosophy of game production and "universal design," and the small problems that come up every day.

Inafune's talk has yet to be outlined, but he is producing the boldly retro-minded Mega Man 9. A keynote about the challenges of strictly limiting yourself technologically could be interesting. It'll probably end up being about the Lost Planet movie, though.

E308: Wii Fanboy reacts to Nintendo's keynote [update]

[Updated: Now with JC talking about things!]

With so many highlights from this year's Nintendo E3 keynote, we're finding our live chat wasn't enough to cover our thoughts and opinions on what was shown. So, below, you'll find some impressions akin to what we did last year. Enjoy.

E308 Reminder: Nintendo press conference today

Are you ready for some Nintendo megatons? Today at 9am PT (that's 12pm for all of you on the east coast), Nintendo will be conducting their annual E3 keynote, which is sure to be home to some interesting content. Also, we think Reggie will take some names. He may also kick some ass.

You'll have the keynote available to you in two flavors. For one, you can get the usual liveblog goodness from Joystiq, but on top of that, we have our own special little something something planned. We'll be conducting a live chat thing to go along side of that, hopefully providing you all with oodles and oodles of content you'll love us forever for. Or, you know, just tolerate.

So, be here at 9am PT and don't forget those bingo cards!

E307: Crisp, clear Mario Kart footage from the Nintendo keynote

Whether you saw Reggie's announcement on Mario Kart Wii yesterday or not, odds are that the footage you saw of the game was fuzzy or distant, and that is just plain wrong. Mario Kart is a delicious treat meant to be enjoyed up close, like a fluffy, flaky, French pastry. So of course, when we need a good video, we turn to French gamers -- and Jeux France comes through with some of the best footage from the keynote we've seen so far. Sure, you could watch a blurry clip on YouTube, but this is Mario Kart. You deserve better. Go on over and give it a gander, because we can't embed it here.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl release date:

Dave:
I'm just happy we're still getting it this year, as I was afraid it would get bumped back. And with the Dojo updates rolling on the regular, I'm going to be well-fed on news about the game up until it's release. I'm excited.

JC: Well, it's about as late as it can be and still be considered "this year." At least they haven't broken their promise about its release date yet. The bits of video we got to see behind Reggie looked nice.

Eric:
Like Dave, I was surprised to hear that this is still scheduled for this year. It's interesting that there was very little, if any, mention of the game's online capabilities.

Alisha: Wha-? I'm shocked that Super Mario Galaxy is going to hit first, but hey, I'm always a fan of delays if it means we get a better game. I can wait a little longer to get my smackdown on. Like Eric, I just, uh, want to hear about some online business, you know? I can wait for the game, but I want that now.

Super Mario Galaxy release date: November 12th

Along with some video of Super Mario Galaxy in the background and some very nice footage of a family enjoying themselves, we got an announcement we've all been waiting for: the release date for Super Mario Galaxy. November 12th. It's not now, but it's not never either.

Joystiq & Engadget live from Nintendo's press conference

Heads up, folks! Joystiq and Engadget have landed at the Nintendo keynote and are setting themselves up to live blog the thing. They're just setting up right now, so there isn't much over there, at the moment. But, that shouldn't stop you from heading over and permanently fixing your index finger over the F5 key.

GDC 07: Miyamoto keynote video

There are dozens of clips floating around from Shigeru Miyamoto's keynote yesterday, but IGN has streaming video of the entire event available for your anxious eyes. You won't find any megaton announcements or landmark revelations, but the presentation is full of insights on "the Nintendo Difference" from the company's preeminent game designer.

What's Miyamoto's primary focus when developing a game? Why did it take 20 years before he could finally use his face creation software in a complete game? And whatever happened to Mario 128? If you have a free hour and a half, watch the keynote and find out.

GDC 07: Super Mario Galaxy screenshots and footage from Miyamoto's Keynote

Scrutinizing Miyamoto's GDC keynote for information on upcoming games might have been about as productive as trying to squeeze water from a rock, but the new Super Mario Galaxy gameplay trailer and screenshots that were brought out did not disappoint.

Along with the clips of planet-hopping and lava stages that we've already seen, we were treated to shots of climbable vines, menacing Thwomps, and ... Planets made of fruit? There are a lot more surprises in the video, but don't take our word for it! Check it out and let us know what you think.
